Kennesaw State takes first-round lead in Rees Jones Collegiate

Kennesaw State holds a 10-stroke lead after Monday's opening round of the third annual Rees Jones Collegiate golf tournament.

The Owls turned in a team score of 593 on Haig Point's Signature Course on Daufuskie Island.

Kennesaw State's Matt Nagy was the low medalist of the first round with a 1-under-par 70-73 -- 143.

Liberty sits in second place in the team standings at 603 and Wofford is third at 605.

Individually, Wofford's Chandler Brazeal is second, one stroke off the lead with a 144. Liberty's Niklas Lindstrom is third at 146 and Liberty's Robert Karlsson is fourth at 147.

The final round starts at 8:30 a.m. today. The tournament is open to the public. For ferry reservations, call 843-686-2000.
