The USC Beaufort women's cross country team was in action Saturday in the Warrior Invitational at Southern Wesleyan University in Central, and the Sand Sharks finished second in a close battle with the host school.
Southern Wesleyan had 39 team points, while USCB finished with 45 on a warm late-September day on what Sand Sharks coach Larry Kimball described as a hilly course.
Selena Hutson was the top finisher for the Sand Sharks, placing second with a time of 21 minutes, 18 seconds. Katie Mock was fifth (21:47), Vannica Williams took eighth (22:36), Kristy Grannan was 11th (22:47) and Caitlin Howe was 19th (24:01).
The USC Beaufort men and women both will be competing Friday at the Charlotte Invitational.
