Nevada’s Caroline named Mountain West player of the week

RENO, Nev.

Nevada forward Jordan Caroline has been named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week, averaging 26.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game in the No. 7 Wolf Pack's victories over Colorado State and New Mexico.

The senior from Champaign, Illinois scored 30 of his game-high 40 points in the first half in the 98-82 win Wednesday at Colorado State. He made 9-of-11 shots from the field and all six free throws in the opening half and finished with 12 rebounds for the 41st double-double of his career at Nevada (23-1), a new league record.

Caroline notched his 15th double-double of the season in the 91-62 win Saturday over New Mexico, with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

For the week, he shot 44.1 percent from the field, 54.5 percent from 3-point range and 77.3 percent from the free-throw line.
