Reading the front page of the newspaper on Sept. 14, the overcrowding of schools in Beaufort County is a disgrace. I was pretty shocked to see that poor girl sitting in a class with no desk. Useless airport runway extensions, building flyovers, buying all kinds of property and adding another park does nothing to encourage young people to move into our area. The future of Hilton Head could be timeshares and private jets.
Education is the answer for our community if we have modern high schools with International Baccalaureate programs. We'll have skilled people with their families coming from all over the country to help with the town's economy and enrolling their children in our schools.
You really have to wonder where the priorities lie. Even our mayor was paid to testify for the timeshare people.
Instead of helping the cause for education, all we have is budget cuts. We'll see who gets cut this November.
