Lowcountry wetlands are not really protected

To the developer planning to overhaul Pineland Station: Don't worry about only being able to use five of the 10 acres the town may sell you to expand the shopping center.

True, the other five acres are wetlands, but they can be filled in as Beaufort County plans to do with its plans for a frontage road from St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church to Berkeley Hall.

Apparently "protected wetlands" are only protected until the government decides they should not be.
