May River Road has been named a scenic highway, but thanks to various telephone directory companies that continue to just throw out a phone book where ever they see a mailbox, it is anything but scenic.
It will even become less scenic once maintenance crews come along with their mowers to cut the roadside grass because all of these books that nobody needed and were left there will be shredded and blown everywhere by the wind. Companies should be held responsible for this needless litter and required to send a crew to retrieve them.
A mailbox doesn't necessarily mean a person has a telephone. Phone companies have customers names in their directories, so phone books should be delivered to the addresses listed in them.
