Bishops understand marriage and more

A great-grandfather started his recent letter with the claim that his Catholic bishops don't understand marriage.

How his bishops lived as family members, successfully served so many couples in their vocation and yet failed to understand marriage is a great mystery.

I am prompted to report that my Catholic bishops would never tell a child, grandchild or a great-grandchild, "you are illegitimate in God's sight," as the writer complains. Perhaps a review of the natural law as it relates to the precepts of Christianity is needed. The great-grandchildren should be taught that they are created to know, love and serve God on earth to be happy with him for eternity.
