Regarding the Associated Press stories about immigration reform in the May 26 and June 17 newspaper: Noticeably missing among all the proposals that make up this bill was a proposal to not allow children born in the U.S. to illegal immigrant parents to automatically become U.S. citizens.
These are the so-called "anchor babies" who help their parents live in the U.S.
It's the next best thing to the United States government instituting an open-border policy that would allow citizens from any country to stroll into the county unopposed.
U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, the South Carolina Republican who helped write this new immigration reform bill, should take notice and include this proposal so there will be no more "anchor babies."

Somewhere in this bill, there is a request that citizens in other countries who have specialized working skills be allowed to go to the head of the line to get into the U.S. legally.
With some estimates that there are more than 25 million people unemployed here in the U.S., surely some of these out-of-work U.S. citizens have the skills needed to fill these jobs.
With U.S. citizens filling these jobs, there's no need to hire people overseas to come to the U.S. to fill these jobs.
