DeMint bad example to disrespect teachers

Thank goodness we have a level-headed leader in U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina, who recently called the teachers of Chicago "thugs."

Many of us are very concerned as to why many students in schools throughout this state and country on a consistent basis disrespect, and have a low regard for, teachers and educators.

One would believe that DeMint, as an elected official, would be a responsible mentor to the young people of this state and country. As responsible adults, we must lead by words and deeds.

DeMint, I trust, puts himself in the category as a responsible adult. Our young people are always watching and listening to us as adults. Disrespecting our teachers and other educators is counterproductive.
