Are you thinking about running for the Beaufort County Board of Education in November 2012 because you have something important to say and want to make a difference?
Perhaps you want to help Beaufort County's public schools, but you don't know how to get started because you have never run for any political office and have no experience. You don't understand how the 2010 census has changed the boundaries of the 11 districts of the school board, so you don't know in which new district you can run; you don't know the specific responsibilities of being a school board member; you are not a parent nor are you an educator, so you don't know whether these really matter; you don't know how much time school board service takes; you wonder whether you will get paid for that time; you don't know how the school district is governed by the Board of Education.
I served on the school board from 2007 through 2010. I would like to answer any questions you may have. You may contact me at 681-8968 or send me an email at: email@example.com. The more candidates we have on the ballot in November, the stronger our public schools will become. Public service is important, but it takes a little courage and can pay big rewards. I hope to hear from you.
