This letter is in regard to the administration's unconscionable mandate to Catholic institutions to go against their core beliefs and the so-called leaders in Washington who are willing to give the church a whole year to comply.
How magnanimous of them. The church has not changed its position on this in more than 2,000 years. We will not change for some lightweight bureaucrats; the Catholic Church's stance against abortion and birth control is well documented.
The right to life is the most basic of human rights. Remember the phrase "endowed by their creator" is not to be mistaken for "by their government." We are constantly being reminded that religion has no place in government. Therefore, government has no place in religion. You cannot have it both ways. Any sane person can see this logic.
If the rest of the country thinks this flagrant government intrusion won't affect them, just remember: "They came for the Jews, but I wasn't a Jew." They came for the Catholics, "but I wasn't a Catholic"; they came for me, and there was no left one to care.
