During World War II, we all pitched in. Those who made more paid higher taxes. They gave surplus food to the hungry. Those who couldn't do that collected metal and grew gardens. Everyone went along with rationing.
Now we've been in two wars, and we still have a war in Afghanistan, and people think it's fine to make millions off the sweat of those who make their products, and they don't have to contribute anything. They can drive their products on highways we all pay for with taxes and not contribute any of their offshore money. Where's the kindness we used to have? President Barack Obama knows we need to bring back fairness.
