Firefighters should keep right on praying

A Sept. 29 story about the Town of Hilton Head Island stopping prayer at firefighters' meetings is a shame and disgrace.

People who work in one of the most dangerous jobs cannot open their meetings with a prayer, but you let something bad happen and whom do they call on for strength and compassion? It surely is not the staff attorney or the human resources department.

The firefighters need to tell those who are opposed to opening a meeting with prayer to take a hike and keep on going.

Step up and tell town officials they don't need anybody, including human resources, to tell them how to run their meeting.
