Now that the political officials have taken their well-deserved bows concerning the Heritage golf tournament and its five-year contract with Royal Bank of Canada and the Boeing Co., those officials can sit back and know it was a job well done.
We know a ton of folks are delighted not only with the sponsorship news, but also with the news that Steve Wilmot and his staff are still in business, along with Simon Fraser, whose devoted work with the Heritage Classic Foundation means so much to charitable groups.
There are many unsung heroes. Two of them are Jack Wilson and Tom Lennox, who led a task force of volunteers in securing several hundred thousand dollars to help boost funds needed by the foundation. The community spirit shown by residents of Beaufort County should not be overlooked. It is worth a special report on one of the national TV networks.
