I am having a difficult time understanding why the taxpayers of Hilton Head Island are going to have to financially support the Heritage golf tournament when two sponsors have been secured.
Why has our Town Council voted to do this? I thought we were off the hook when sponsors came forward.
If there is still a shortfall, consider who benefits from the Heritage. Sea Pines Resort has the golf course, gets all the publicity and collects all the gate fees, and their restaurants, hotels, rentals and concessions reap benefits. What has that company contributed to this event?
Surely, Port Royal Plantation, Hilton Head Plantation, Indigo Run, Spanish Wells, etc. don't benefit from this one- week event.
