Criticism of Ryan plan rings hollow from AARP

Recently, I saw a commercial on a national TV show warning that Congress might try to cut the benefits of Medicare or Social Security or both.

This is from AARP, the same organization that put all its weight behind Obamacare, which cut $500 billion from Medicare. The only proposal regarding Medicare or Social Security now pending is U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan's proposal to leave Medicare untouched for those 55 and older but offer options to those now younger than 55 when they retire.

The commercial gives the impression that Medicare for current retirees is somehow threatened. AARP has itself (by its support of Obamacare) constituted the major threat to Medicare for current retirees.
