Sacrifice entitlements to war, corporate welfare

I feel I must call on my fellow senior citizens to engage in a letter-writing campaign to lawmakers requesting an end to Social Security and Medicare.

It is clear that our great nation cannot afford these programs as necessary as they might be.

While we paid into Social Security all our working lives and are even now as retirees paying into Medicare, it was necessary for our government to spend most of this money on corporate welfare, wars, foreign aid, etc.

Social Security and Medicare funds are now so low that they are threatened with bankruptcy, while our government is desperately seeking money to continue various wars, aid to corporations and aid to such needy places as Afghanistan and Pakistan.

So I urge us all to once again suck it up, so that our government can continue in its many wonderful activities.
