Unemployment benefits already much too small

Truth be told, South Carolina is not exactly a mecca for employment.

Cutting unemployment benefits will be nothing short of tragic for a lot of people. Reducing the number of weeks of benefits from 26 weeks to 20 weeks does not seem like a lot to high-paid government officials, but it could mean a rise in bankruptcies here. Is it worth it?

I don't know whether most people know that after filing a claim and getting approved, the claimant receives a net sum of $270 a week. Surprised? It has to be one of the lowest in the nation.

And now they want to cut it even more. That's sad when they claim to be for the people.

I know my vote will at least hamper Gov. Nikki Haley's chance to stay in office for long. Shame on all of you responsible for this.
