Voter ID law bad idea that will cost taxpayers

The American Association of University Women opposes the implementation of the voter identification law.

No one has established that there is problem of voter fraud in South Carolina. To force seniors, disabled and mostly poor people without driver's licenses to make a special trip to the Department of Motor Vehicles imposes an unnecessary burden for no reason and will cost the taxpayers additional funds in a time of budget cuts to our colleges and universities and our public schools.

While this might seem on the surface to be a good idea, it makes it more difficult for people to vote, and we hope the law will not be implemented.
