As one who makes a round trip to Ridgeland twice each week, I am aware of the traffic cameras and all the controversy surrounding the use of them. I confess to being totally confused over this controversy.
Law enforcement officials are not enjoined against setting up "speed traps" by hiding in the bushes to nab speeders. Drivers on the Cross Island Parkway who do not pay their fees have their vehicle photographed and are billed for the missing payment.
Why then is the town of Ridgeland wrong in its use of the cameras? This seems to be a dual standard, which I am at a loss to understand.
