It's time to pitch in again with necessities

Several years ago, cities in North Carolina were devastated by tornadoes, similar to what happened recently in several nearby states.

The good people of Beaufort did not hesitate to get behind a relief effort, donating the items so desperately needed by those who had lost everything. Food and lodging by necessity took priority over other donations, and it was decided that Beaufort would try to provide the basic necessities to those who woke to face the world with absolutely nothing.

The items donated were: bedding, towels, pillows, washcloths, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, brushes, razors (disposable), baby items, diapers, clothing for babies and adults, shoes, sanitary items, socks. The amount donated was staggering. Everything was gratefully received.

Now there has been a multitude of tornadoes, again leaving good people to face each day with absolutely nothing. Picture the folks in Tuscaloosa, Ala. It's time for the good people of Beaufort to step up to the plate again.
