Informed people support health care law

This is a rebuttal to the Feb. 17 letter calling for repeal of the new health care law.

It is fact that this law is strongly supported by the American Medical Association, AARP, hospitals, most insurance and drug companies and a coalition of Catholic nuns . In fact, the more informed people become, the more they support the law.

And why not? After all, the law prevents insurers from denying coverage due to pre-existing conditions; insurers can no longer put a cap on your medical treatment; nor can there be lifetime caps on your medical costs. And for those who believe in America's core values, the law also insures 32 million Americans who currently have no insurance.

Of course, if you disagree with the government's role, you are free to tear up your Medicare card and return your Social Security checks.
