A recent editorial from The (Rock Hill) Herald denouncing a Senate bill to ban Shariah law in South Carolina demonstrates the intellectually bankrupt concept of moral relativism loved by liberals, progressives and socialists.
Shariah law is not tolerant, moderate or liberal. It seeks to establish a worldwide totalitarian theocracy and put to the sword all who fail to follow its medieval doctrine. Apparently, the editorial writer is blithely unaware of the administration of Shariah law by Saudi judges who ruled that a convicted man's spinal cord should be severed and paralyzed for similar injuries he supposedly inflicted on another man during a fight. Retribution punishments include eye gouging, tooth extraction, flogging, amputation and beheading.
Shariah law is a political and religious system set upon Islamic world domination, as surely as Communist totalitarianism was in its day. It preaches the virtue of violence, conquest and forced conversion.
The editorial claims the bill singles out "a particular group of American citizens and implies that they are less loyal and less observant of U.S. laws than others." In fact, they are just that. True Islamic believers acknowledge no other law than Shariah and therein lies the problem. Apparently, the writer believes that Islamists are no more dangerous than members of the Holy Name Society at a Friday night fish fry at the Catholic church.
The proposed legislation sends a clear message that South Carolina will give no credence to a philosophy that seems to be a single perceived insult away from blowing up an airliner.
