A recent letter told us that propaganda was in the eyes of the beholder.
I guess so, when the beholder only sees and hears what she wants. While channel-surfing, I paused to watch Glenn Beck. I couldn't believe what he was saying. This is a dangerous man.
Beck represents the worst kind of broadcasting. He lies, misrepresents, creates news, exaggerates the facts and incites the listener to near riot based on his ridiculous reporting.
He links liberals with an Islamic movement to take over the world. He says there will be a caliph who will rule the world, that President Barack Obama is a secret member of that movement. It's almost funny, but some people believe him.
Sadly, many people get their news from Fox News. That means that many people are misinformed. What has happened to integrity in reporting, and how did we dumb down as a society? The blowhards seem to be taking over the delivery of our news. Can you imagine Edward R. Murrow, David Brinkley, Chet Huntley, John Cameron Swayze or Walter Cronkite behaving like Beck or Rush Limbaugh?
It's depressing that we have lowered our standards and now rely on egomaniacs for an evaluation of what's going on around the world. Good night, David; good night, Chet.
