Ballot choices flow like Lowcountry rivers

I must admit I find it difficult to vote lately. However, I have made two selections.

When I first moved here in 1975, the first thing I learned about South Carolina was that the "Ashley and Cooper rivers meet in Charleston to form the Atlantic Ocean" -- and now we have the opportunity to vote for Ashley Cooper for lieutenant governor. Some things were just meant to be.

My other selection is for U.S. senator. Now, usually, it takes some time for the national media to discover that one or the other of our state's senators is somewhat deranged or at least strange. (Did anyone ever know what Fritz Hollings was talking about?) Now we can vote for a senator in keeping with our unofficial state motto -- "Too small for a republic, too large for an insane asylum." So, I'll be voting for Alvin Greene. I think he will fit right in with the current Senate.

If you have any other ideas along these lines, please let me know. I still have a good many choices to make.
