United Way contributions build stronger community

Last week marked the midpoint for the United Way of the Lowcountry's annual campaign.

What's our message at this important juncture? We are grateful to everyone who already has made a gift or pledge. We need every business and every person to participate to help us reach the community goal of $2.6 million.

We all have a vested interest in making sure the increasing need for human services in our Beaufort and Jasper County towns and rural areas is met.

United Way partners with 39 local agencies and services and works with more than 500 volunteers year round. These agencies and volunteers are the faces of the United Way. They are the strong shoulders carrying the weight of assessing needs in our community, raising money for the annual campaign, obtaining grants, assuring wise investment of contributions, measuring the success of agency programs, providing strategic support and recruiting and training new volunteers to help make our Lowcountry home the best it can be.

If you have not yet made your United Way pledge, we need you. Please give today by visiting our website at www.uwlowcountry.org and clicking on the "give" button. Or call us at 843-982-3040 and make your pledge by phone. On behalf of an entire community that will benefit from the services your contribution helps provide, thank you.
