I do not subscribe to The Packet due to what I consider its political bias. I do sometimes read the letters to the editor for entertainment value. Most letters, not surprisingly, reflect the same bias.
It has been years since I submitted a letter, but find myself compelled after hearing what I consider to be the best, most American State of the Union speech since Ronald Reagan. I believe it was even better.
I vote for politicians based upon their values and ability to accomplish results, not on their swagger and polish. For eight years, we experienced the latter without results.
Now, thankfully, America is seeing progress on almost all fronts due to the strength and determination of President Trump: phenomenal growth of economy, jobs and incomes, companies reinvesting in America, a path toward energy independence, government getting out of the way of progress, supporting our military and letting it do its job, controlling illegal immigration, putting America first and not bowing to countries that continue to take our money and then attack us, standing up for free speech and religious rights, and on and on.
Our president made an invitation during the speech to all members of Congress to unite and continue his progress in making America great again. Based upon the message sent from those who chose not to attend, walked out, or stared at the ceiling, I anticipate nothing will happen on that front other than the continuing political resistance.
May God continue to bless America.
