The U.S. Department of Agriculture issues emergency food stamps in areas affected by disaster when the state requests assistance.

However, as of Wednesday, South Carolina has not made a request for disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) benefits, according to USDA representatives.

D-SNAP benefits are provided through an EBT card that can be used at authorized food retailers to buy food.
