The Beaufort-Jasper Water & Sewer Authority has asked all local customers to restrict their water and sewer use until power has been restored to all areas. Several booster pump stations are still without normal power and operating on generators.
“Even though power has been restored at BJWSA water treatment plants,” said an advisory on the BJWSA website, “the booster pump stations needed to distribute the water to all parts of our service area are without power and are being operated on generators. This limits our ability to reliability provide the normal water demands we experience at this time of the year.”
Residents are asked to limit usage to “essential needs only” and hold off on dishwashing, laundry and even be mindful of long showers and excessive flushing.
