Richland County Sheriff’s Department asking for help identifying armed robbery suspect

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is asking the community’s help with identifying or locating a suspect wanted for armed robbery and kidnapping at a retail store near Dutch Square northwest of Columbia.

The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. on Nov. 23 when a man entering the Dollar General, at 1563 Broad River Road, showed two employees a gun and demanded money from the store’s safe and register, Sheriff Leon Lott said in a statement released Monday.

The suspect then ordered the employees to the rear of the business, tied them up and fled the area stealing the cash, Lott said.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing black jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt and a black ski mask over his face.

Anyone with information about this suspect is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-Crime-SC. Those with information leading to an arrest may be eligible to receive a cash award of up to $1,000.
