Two Kershaw County businesses were cited recently for selling beer to underage shoppers who were working as part of an uncover operation, officials say.
Gate gas station at the intersection of W. DeKalb Street and Springdale Drive in Camden and Tucker’s Country Store on Springvale Road in Ridgeway both received citations for selling to minors, officials with the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement released Wednesday.
The undercover operations were conducted June 12 and 17.
Under the direction of the sheriff’s office, the underage shoppers attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages from 30 locations licensed to sell alcohol in Kershaw County. In each of the attempts, the shopper, when asked, presented legitimate identification that showed them to be under 21.
