Bostic picks up three endorsements in 1st District GOP runoff

Jim Martin, chairman and founder of the 60 Plus Association, endorsed Curtis Bostic, a former Marine and Charleston attorney who is running against Sanford in the 1st Congressional District race.

Martin said in a statement: "As a former Marine, Curtis Bostic lives up to that time-honored commitment. 'Semper Fidelis,' 'Always Faithful.' It isn't, 'Sometimes Faithful.' It isn't, 'Only Faithful' when it suits your personal lifestyle. It isn't negotiable. As all those know who served in our Armed Forces, no matter which branch, you must remain faithful to your mission, to lead by example. Never ever desert your post."

Martin's remarks are a reference to Sanford secretly leaving the state in 2009 to visit his lover in Argentina.

Bostic was also endorsed by former U.S. Rep. Henry Brown. Brown represented the 1st Congressional District for 10 years before his retirement; he was succeeded by Tim Scott.

"I've known Curtis and his family for many years, and know him to be a man of integrity and principle. He is the best choice for District 1," Brown said.

Bostic also has been endorsed by the National Republican Trust, an organization that promotes traditional American values and supports federal issues advocating similar values.

"We believe Curtis Bostic is the best choice for Congress -- his leadership with creating nonprofits, the Charleston County Council and United States Marines make him uniquely qualified to serve in Congress ...," said executive director Scott Wheeler"
