Democrats host gubernatorial debate watch party

The Democratic Club of Beaufort County South of the Broad will host a debate-watch party for the South Carolina gubernatorial debate from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Democratic campaign office at 55 Mathews Drive, Morningside Commons, Suite 230, Hilton Head Island.

The first of three scheduled debates between Democratic nominee Vincent Sheheen and Republican nominee Nikki Haley begins at 7 p.m.

The debate, held at the Chapman Cultural Center of Spartanburg, will not be broadcast locally, but a live stream can be viewed at www.wspa.com/live.

Debates also are scheduled Oct. 25 on South Carolina Educational Television and Oct. 26 at Francis Marion University in Florence.
