1. Why should people vote for you?

Beaufort County schoolchildren are the future of our county's growth and development. We need to equip them with skills to carry out this task. I want to be apart of this process. I have years of leadership experience, an education and business background, and management skills. I believe I can understand both sides of the issues.

2. What are the three most important issues you would address if elected and how would you address them?

Financial. To review operating and capital budgets and determine the what, how and why of the utilization of funds. I want to analyze the figures and determine if we are getting the best bang for the dollar. In addition, find ways for cost cutting without effecting classroom learning.

Curriculum. Seeing how the curriculum has evolved and what the impact has been on the education of all students . How have changes in curriculum improved graduation rates, increase the number of students applying and accepted into college. I would compare our statistics to the state and national levels and look to find our weakness to develop strategies and find appropriate training.

Achievement gap. Understanding the achievement gap between majority and minority students. This can best be address by ensuring that the board, along with the superintendent, develops and put in place sound polices to address the achievement gap.

3. What other issues do you see as important?

Alternative education. How is the Beaufort County School District addressing the needs of students with different learning styles i.e., gifted and talented, students whose needs are not being addresses in the traditional classroom, and disruptive students.

Community growth and how it impacts the educational system and what are the current plans for addressing this issue.

4. What specific steps will you take to make government more open and accessible to the public?

Hold informational meetings in the community to allow communication to flow between the community and the board.

5. Have you ever been convicted of a crime (felony), been disciplined by a professional licensing board or organization or had an ethics violation filed against you? If so, please give details.

6. Have you ever filed for bankruptcy, been delinquent on your federal, state or local taxes? If so, please give the details.

7. Are there any personal details about yourself that voters would be interested in knowing?

I have a great passion for the music and believe that children who study music develop teamwork skills, sharpen their communication skills and allow them to develop self-discipline and increase their creativity.
