Witnesses: Driver left scene of totaled car, appeared uninjured

Police are looking for the driver of a car found wrecked and abandoned on the side of the road in Bluffton this morning, officials say.

Emergency responders including Bluffton Township Fire District firefighters and a county EMS crew were dispatched to the scene of the wreck at 304 Buck Island Road. The call came in around 5 a.m., fire district spokesman Capt. Randy Hunter said. 

Arriving firefighters found the totaled car upside down, but found no sign of the driver or passengers.

Witnesses say the driver left the scene and did not appear to be injured, Bluffton Police Department Deputy Chief Joseph Manning said. 

Officers are looking for the driver, he said, and are continuing to investigate.
