Overturned car on Bluffton Pwky blocking traffic after collision around noon Friday

Update: All eastbound lanes of Bluffton Parkway were reopened as of 12:50 p.m. Friday.

A two-vehicle collision just before noon Friday overturned a car and blocked all eastbound lanes of Bluffton Parkway, according to an alert from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. Drivers in eastern Bluffton should expect hefty delays during the afternoon’s lunch rush.

The accident occurred at the parkway’s intersection with The Bluestone apartments, located between Burnt Church Road and the traffic circle on Bluffton Road. As of 12:15 p.m. Friday, traffic backups were significant on Bluffton Parkway and on U.S. 278 just north of the crash site.

A tow truck was seen transporting the overturned car from the scene around 12:40 p.m. Friday. Traffic appeared to be flowing normally on Bluffton Parkway as of 12:50 p.m.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, county EMS crews and the Bluffton Township Fire District were responding to the scene while Bluffton police assisted with traffic flow. Information on potential injuries was not immediately available.

The collision led to significant traffic backups on Bluffton Pkwy on Friday afternoon. Drivers in the area should expect significant delays, including on U.S. 278 just north of the crash.
