Four student research assistants from the University of South Carolina Beaufort's hospitality management program have been honored for their academic achievement and service.
Juniors Catherine Moorman and Sydney Palad received $1,000 scholarships at events in March and April. Moorman was named the 2015 Tourism Student of the Year by the S.C. Travel and Tourism Coalition, and Palad was the 2015 Tourism Leadership Council Scholarship Award Winner.
Sophomore Kenzie Rathe also was named the university's Lead Research Assistant of the Year, and Randi Parton won the Hospitality Management Program Award.
The students are part of a program that will soon return to Hilton Head Island on a new campus on Office Park Road. The Island Packet and The Beaufort Gazette recently examined how the campus was born and the scrutiny surrounding it in a report available online at http://bit.ly/1HsHPuQ.
