TCL criminal justice instructor named Beaufort Rotary Club Employee of the Year

A criminal justice instructor at the Technical College of the Lowcountry was named the Beaufort Rotary Club Employee of the Year.

Michael Ricks spent 22 year in law enforcement, during which time he served as the Moss Point, Miss., and Tuskegee, Ala., chief of police. He moved to Beaufort in 2010 to teach at TCL.

Ricks has an associate degree from Georgia Military College, a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a master's degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in criminal justice.
