The man accused of robbing a Bluffton bank Wednesday afternoon armed only with a note is still at large.

“As of this morning, we haven’t identified or located him,” Joy Nelson, spokeswoman for the Bluffton Police Department, said Thursday. “However, patrol units, as well as our detectives, are actively looking for him and looking at all leads.”

The Palmetto State Bank on Bluffton Road was robbed at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday by a white man described as 5-foot-8 and wearing a black shirt, black hat and sunglasses.

He held a note demanding money, was given an undisclosed amount of cash and ran away as bank employees pressed a panic button, according to the Bluffton Police Department.

Nelson would not say what was written on the suspect’s note.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity or his whereabouts can call Sgt. Laura Rutland at 843-505-4929.
