A St. Helena woman called police to her home at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday after a 30-year-old former student broke her coffee table, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies reported the 52-year-old woman was intoxicated. She said she had been in her photography studio with the suspect, who was a student in a class in which she had been a substitute teacher, the report said.
The woman said the former student told her she owed him $200 for marijuana. He became confrontational and broke a coffee table.
The woman claimed to be like a mother to the suspect, who had never before been violent with her, the report said. She wanted the Sheriff's Office to have a record of the incident.
