A former Hilton Head Island welcome center will serve as a training ground for firefighters to practice their skills throughout the week.

The Town of Hilton Head Fire & Rescue Division is occupying the building at 100 William Hilton Parkway today through Friday, according to division spokeswoman Joheida Fister.

Drills include positioning firefighting gear, practicing an attack line and ventilating the roof using portable ladders, Fister said.
