A Bluffton woman was charged with public disorderly conduct Monday night after she got drunk and struck her husband, daughter and a neighbor before falling in a ditch near her home, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.
A deputy was sent to the Juniper Lane home around 8:45 p.m. after a report of domestic violence, the report said. The woman’s husband said his wife was intoxicated and causing a “disturbance’ in the residence and in the front yard. The man said he didn’t know what his wife was upset about, but that when he tried to calm her down, she punched him in the jaw.
She also broke several items inside the home and had been in the yard “screaming” before she fell into a ditch, the report said. The husband said he didn’t want to press charges, but only wanted her to leave for the night. The woman’s daughter said her mother also struck her, but that she was uninjured and also did not want to pursue charges. A female neighbor said she tried to help the woman from the ditch and was also struck in the process. She, too, did not want to press charges.
By the time the deputy got to the home, the woman was on the porch and said she didn’t hit anyone, the report said. She said she was waiting on a friend to come pick her up.
As the deputy waited with her, the woman began to yell profanities at her family within earshot of other homes. After the deputy warned her several times to stop, she was placed under arrest and taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center.
