A Bluffton man has been charged in connection with three burglaries reported by victims who evacuated before Hurricane Matthew.
Xavier Don Dunbar, 18, was charged with three counts of first-degree burglary, possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful carry of a firearm, grand larceny, possession of marijuana and fleeing to evade after three homes inside the Mill Creek subdivision were broken into between Oct. 6 and Oct. 10, according to a Bluffton Police Department news release.
The victims told police they noticed items had been stolen from their homes after they returned from evacuating, the release said.
Dunbar is at the Beaufort County Detention Center where he is being held on a bond of over $180,000, according to the jail’s website.
