Hilton Head Island's Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 10-11 is among the units across the country marking the 75th anniversary of the national organization.
The local branch was established in November 1965 and is part of a 31,000-member national force, according to a news release from the local group. The auxiliaries are the civilian component of the U.S. Coast Guard.
The lighting on the Empire State Building will display Coast Guard Auxiliary colors Monday to mark the anniversary.
