Army Pvt. Shanaide Robinson has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values; physical fitness; and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills; military weapons; chemical warfare and bayonet training; drill and ceremony; marching; rifle marksmanship; armed and unarmed combat; map reading; field tactics; military courtesy; military justice system; basic first aid; foot marches; and field training exercises. Robinson is a 2009 Beaufort High School graduate.
Kevin Watson was commissioned to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2 in the Coast Guard during a ceremony June 1 at the Coast Guard Navigation Center in Alexandria, Va. Chief Warrant Officer Watson is the son of Walter Watson Sr. of Beaufort and Ruth Singleton of Burton. He is a graduate of Battery Creek High School.
