Military honors for Feb. 17

  • Air Force Airman Travis Lawton graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.
  • The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

    Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

    He is the grandson of Lou Lawton and nephew of Necole McMath, both of Beaufort. Lawton is a 2010 graduate of Beaufort High School.

  • Air Force Airman Kaneisha Armstrong has been promoted to the rank of airman first class in the U.S. Air Force.
  • Armstrong, a knowledge operations manager with one year of military service, is assigned to the 628th Air Base Wing at Charleston Air Force Base.

    She is the daughter of Gertha Dansby and granddaughter of Charles and Patricia Reed, all of Beaufort. Armstrong is a 2009 graduate of Beaufort High School.
