A Rue De Bois home on Lady’s Island caught fire late Saturday night. There were no injuries, but the home was badly damaged, according to Lady’s Island-St. Helena Island Fire District.
This is the second time recently that firefighters have been called to the mobile home, fire district Public Information Officer Scott Harris said. They were also called to the scene on July 26 in response to what was then believed to be an electrical fire. The Fire Scene Investigation team is now looking into the incident.
Neighbors of the double-wide mobile home called 911 upon seeing flames around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Harris said.
Nearly 40 percent of the vacant home was on fire when firefighters arrived, Harris said. There was “extensive” fire and smoke damage throughout the home, he said.
