Update: One St. Helena Island shooting suspect surrenders; one at large

One of two men suspected in the July 2 shooting of a St. Helena Island man surrendered to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday morning. A second suspect remains at large, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

Brian Lamont Bryan, 30, of St. Helena, turned himself in around 8 a.m. on Thursday.

Bryan and Erick Antonio Holmes, 27, face charges of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle and discharging a firearm into a dwelling in connection with the incident on Levant Byas Road on St. Helena Island. Holmes, also of St. Helena, remains at large, the release said.

The victim of the shooting, an adult male, suffered a non-life-threatening wound, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release issued the night of the shooting. Bryan and Holmes allegedly fired multiple times into the victim’s vehicle, the release said.

Holmes is described as 5-foot-11 and weighing 250 pounds.
