A head-on collision temporarily shut down traffic at the intersection of SC 170 and SC 128 near the foot of the Broad River Bridge in Beaufort around 6 a.m. Thursday. Roads were cleared about 30 minutes later.
One driver was injured in the two-car crash and was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to a Burton Fire District news release. Both vehicles were heavily damaged.
This is the third collision on Robert Smalls Parkway in 24 hours, fire district spokesman Daniel Byrne said.
The first was a three-car crash in Beaufort on Wednesday morning, and the second was a collision on the Broad River Bridge around 6 p.m. Wednesday. Each crash sent two individuals to the hospital, three of whom sustained non-life threatening injuries.
