A brush fire in a Seabrook neighborhood Thursday spread to almost 8 acres before it was put out, according to a Burton Fire District spokesman.
The 4 p.m. fire spread from a burning log to several yards and almost eight acres, threatening four homes in the Seabrook Point neighborhood, paramedic Daniel Byrne said.
The fire didn't damage the homes but burned grass, sticks and trees in the yards.
Three Burton fire engines, a Beaufort-Port Royal Fire Department engine, and a Sheldon Fire District engine and tanker all responded to the fire in Seabrook Point, which does not have water lines or fire hydrants.
